Greenhouse Alternatives for Teams Under 50

Greenhouse is a great product. It’s also built for 100-plus headcount companies with dedicated recruiting teams, and it’s priced accordingly.

Starting plans run around $6,000 a year, and real deployments often land closer to $10,000 or $15,000 once you layer in modules. For a 20-person startup making 8 hires a year, that’s a lot of money for features you won’t touch.

When Greenhouse makes sense (and when it doesn’t)

If you have a recruiting team of three or more, structured interview kits, and a CEO who cares about pipeline analytics, Greenhouse earns its price. Under 50 employees, most of that machinery sits unused. You want something lighter, cheaper, and faster to configure.

The shortlist worth considering

Ashby is the closest feature rival. It’s well-designed, has strong analytics, and starts cheaper than Greenhouse but not by a huge margin. Great fit for teams that want Greenhouse-level polish without paying Greenhouse prices.

Workable is the pragmatic choice. Plans start around $150 a month, it has job board syndication baked in, and setup takes an afternoon. The UI feels a bit dated, but it works.

Teamtailor leans hard into employer branding and career pages. If you care about how your hiring experience looks to candidates, and you’re in Europe where Teamtailor is strongest, it’s worth a trial. Pricing typically runs $200 to $400 a month for small teams.

Recruitee is another solid European option. Collaborative hiring features are genuinely good, pricing starts around $200 a month, and the learning curve is short.

Pinpoint deserves more attention than it gets. UK-built, clean interface, strong customer support, and pricing that’s reasonable for teams making 10 to 40 hires a year.

Breezy HR sits at the cheap end, starting around $150 a month and with a free tier for very small teams. Less polished, but more than enough for under 5 hires a year.

The piece most alternatives miss

Every tool above handles tracking well. None of them actually help you with the hardest part of hiring, which is reading and ranking hundreds of CVs per role. That’s a different category of product.

Sieve is AI-native CV screening that sits in front of your ATS and turns a flood of applicants into a ranked shortlist with reasoning. Plug it into Ashby, Workable, Teamtailor, or even a spreadsheet. See it at sievecv.com.
